Pate for 10 month old

I was out for lunch with family the other day and was eating pate and toast. I was about to give my nearly 11 month old a bit but I was stopped by a choris of 'you can't give her that'.
Is it true then? I thought we only had to avoid it when pregnant but would be okay? Dh says there might be raw egg or meat in it?

I think you are supposed to avoid pate during pregnancy because it is made of liver, which has a too much vitamin A.

I don't believe that the liver in pate is raw, and does not have any raw eggs as far as I know.

In any case, my dd has loved pate and runny cheeses like brie since she could nick titbits from me, certianly younger than a year. She is now 11 and has never suffered any ill effects!!

that's what I thought too

tis fine
your family are nuts and/or misinformed and/or overcautious
(depending on how polite you're feeling)

Don't you just love it when people overreact.

Used to give my dd bits of curry, chilli, whatever I was eating basically. How else are they supposed to learn to eat normally?

My mum used to think I was mad (ha!)
