love fennel

I cut it in half long ways after trimming stalks, then cut into quarters.

Put in covered frying pan with 4 -6 knobs of butter, leave on low heat for about 20 mins until tender .Delicious with salmon or trout

Chop the fennel. Boil it for 20 mins. Mix with butter. Grate parmesan on top. Bake for 10 mins at 200c. Mmmmmmmmmm!

We just had it roasted with some chicken.

It was ok! I think it might grow on me - will try the cream thing next.

Thanks all!

Vonsudenfed - I made pasta with your roasted fennel topping tonight - wonderful, thank you for that.

What do you usually combine it with? I found it a main course by itself, & wanted quite a strong red wine , especially because of the chilli. And then some nice chocolate (walnut whips, to be precise) to follow.
