Going to a proms in the park type thing on Saturday.

I have been charged with producing the picnic for not only my parents, louche hard drinking foodie friends but also the ex-parents in law.

Particularly concerned about pudding, as I'm rubbish at those, but also would really like some more ideas for savoury bits & bobs. Am a reasonable cook, so can cope with the more ambitious stuff. Also, Waitrose is my corner shop, & lots of nice independent delis & grocers around here.

What would you gourmet MNetters do?

Not good with sweet things, but mini pittas filled with falafel, coriander and humous are scrummy.

For supper last night we had left over beef fillet in pittas with a kind of thai salad from nigella. yummy
you can make the dressing in advance and just mix it with the leaves at the last minute. Dressing is lemon flesh, chilli, salt, coriander and olive oil. Just before serving mix with lettuce, rocket, watercrss etc and shavings of parmesan. - dead easy and dead scrummy

was thinking that it would make v. good picnic food
