...

Right - got 12 adults, 12 kids (ranging 2 to 7)

We don't have a BBQ and I'm not a huge fan anyway so it's a day in the garden with food.

So far, because some people are bringing stuff we have:

Chilli
Beef curry
Potato salad
Lemon and lime cheescake
3 of those M&S tubs of mini cakes (mini choc swiss roll thingies, flap jacks, choc cornflake cake things)
A box of cheese straws

24 fruit shoots (argh!) and 24 little tubs of ice cream. Also about 100 bottles of Stella (these were all left over from our rained out summer fair at school so I bought them back so we didn't lose money!)

Help me, help me - what do I get?!

loads of food

any vegetarians coming?

chocolateshoes · 31/07/2007 19:42

gilled halloumi or halloumi kebabs is good for veggies

Gobbledigook · 31/07/2007 19:42

Ha ha - loads of food! No sh*t, sherlock!

Ooh, very good question though! I dunno! Eeek!

No, no, I think i'll be round yours!

thomcat · 31/07/2007 19:45

Well the veggies can have all the salad and the rice an jack pots, if that's what you do. A jacket potaot with salad and cheese and sour cream plus the bread and cheese and tortillas and then the fruit salad will be fine.

BBBee · 31/07/2007 19:45

no I meant you were doing loads of food!

Gobbledigook · 31/07/2007 19:46

Not looking as good as you do in that Facebook picture you're not!

Yep, jacket spuds is a fabbo idea - am definitely doing that.

Do you see how I go for the easy option?!

LOL!

Gobbledigook · 31/07/2007 20:52

Right so:

Curry
Chilli
Jacket potatoes
Grated cheese
Sour cream
Green salad
Potato salad
Bread
Pate
Cont. meats

Lemon and lime cheesecake
Strawberries and cream
Another cake

For kids:

Hot dogs
Crisps
Grapes
Carrot/cucumber sticks

Ice creams
Mini cakes (chocolate rolls, cornflake cakes, flapjacks)

Do I need anything else?

Can I not put out salad though? I know what you mean - I won't eat it

I am likely to pick at bread and meats
Have chilli, potato, cheese combo

Eat some pud

Get drunk (yes in charge of minors!)

Otherwise is it ok or do I need something else?

But if you jazz up salad with the peppers it'll be lovely with the chilli.

It's only a cheapo bag of salad and is another thing on the table. People will have a bit with bread and cheese.

Go to Costco.

thomcat · 31/07/2007 21:00

Sounds lovely btw

milge · 31/07/2007 21:00

I would get some ready made meringues, some cream, some berries,eg raspberries, blueberries, etc, and some CHOCOLATE BROWNIES.
Everyone can pick and mix what they want.

Alternatively, some cheese, grapes, nice crackers.

Then you just need to get some wine for the non beer drinkers, some soft drinks for the drivers, and some non Fruit Shoots drinks for the offspring of MNrs.

Have a fab time!!

Gobbledigook · 31/07/2007 21:01

OK - it will make the table look colourful if nowt else!

Anything else?

Re hot dogs: I buy good quality sausages from our local butchers, full of meat and hardly any fat. You can stick them in the oven if you're not BBQing.

Loads of great ideas on here, nothing to add (except can I come too please?!)

(P.S. Fruit shoots never hurt anyone once in a while!)
