Right v. posh ex colleague coming to dinner with her husband on Saturday - they are a bit older and far more worldy than us and I want to cook something that they are going to think is top class!

Thing is they are coming over at lunchtime as her DH is playing golf with mine whilst we go shopping so needs to be something I can make in advance or won't take up too much time as will have to cook it with 2 kids around and her watching over me!!

Was thinking - maybe something seafoody for starters?

Roast leg of lamb (not sure what else to do with it though?)

Pavlova (my speciality but DH hates it!)

All ideas will be gladly received though as my menu probably stupid idea which will take far too long!!

Tx

I can feel MI virtually tutting at the mere mention of cod

suzywong · 31/07/2007 15:36

my new boyfriend, Anthony Bourdain, says foie gras geese are treated like indulged children ergo, it is OK.

I love him

ggglimpopo · 31/07/2007 15:38

His cocaine intake was impressive suzy - how he could snort that much and still look so dropdead frenchman sexy in his crumpled whites.

Bet he smells of crevettes and gauloises though.

WideWebWitch · 31/07/2007 15:40

Oh I fancy Anthony Bourdain too.

actually, it's his voice and tone and vocab that floats my boat, but I would like to work a long hard dinner shift with him in a hot kitchen and then go out on the lash and chain smoke and drink grappa

so what kind of fruit are you going with to serve with the pavlovla

Do I detect a note of sarcasm WaC? Probably won't find Anthony Bourdain in Colchester high street buying fags either, but he is also on this thread.

Mango chicken with apricot jam. So easy you could do it in your sleep and tastes amazing.
