Runner beans anyone?

Ok have never cooked runner beans before, got them in an organic box. Cut one open and it looks a bit cotton woolly inside with peas in. Is this ok or does it mean they are off. Feel very foolish asking but never had them before

You have to cut the top partially off and then pull down the side to the bottom to get rid of the stringy bits (do this to the bottom and other side to) then I cut them into thin strips peas included although most people cut them in to 1/2" chunks. Cook in boiling water and if the kids dont eat them sprinkle a little vinegar on them. The are gorgeous raw too. You can buy a runner bean slicer this looks like a one inch square egg slicer whic makes life easier. They are lovely raw as they are quite snappy to eat.

Take vegtable peeler and skim both edges and snap off top and bottom. Slice thinly (when done in chunks they don't cook properly). Place in boiling water and cook til tender. Serve with melted butter or bacon bits/pancetta or as a kind of salad with olive oil and lemon

slice them up thinly like the others have said - if you cut them up in chunks they are horrible and tough and vile

If they look cotton woolly inside, might they be broad beans not runner beans? Just a thought

i'd thought this too but op said peas not beans. The peas in runner beans are a bit pinky looking.
