rise a bisi? (off to check spelling. )

uberalicelongbottom · 30/07/2007 13:36

What do you mean by fish sauce? A creamy thing, or stock?

MorocconOil · 30/07/2007 13:36

What about chicken fried rice?

NAB3 · 30/07/2007 13:37

You could just about make risi e bisi. Want the recipe?

Katymac · 30/07/2007 13:37

Fry ginger/spring onions/chicken (use a little water)

Cook either rice or pasta

Boil peas

Stir all together
Leave the chillis & fish sauce alone

flatmouse · 30/07/2007 13:38

would make a not so shabby risotto with that - or a more basic stir fried rice with jst about everythin gon your list except the pasta!

fairyjay · 30/07/2007 13:38

I think it's the Waitrose website that has a section you can put your ingredients into, and they come up with a recipe.

Katymac · 30/07/2007 13:38

Add the mushrooms to the stir fry bit

meowmix · 30/07/2007 13:41

chop onions and chillis. put in ovenproof dish with a little oil. Add rice and stir so it gets coated in oil. shred chicken and add along with couple of handfuls of peas. Cover with stock, cook at 180 for about 45 mins.

can't remember what its called but its rather nice

you could do a quick thai stir fry...

cook the rice as you would normally, then chop the spring onions and chilis and ginger (and garlic if you have any) , stir fry it with the mushrooms then add about a tblespoon of sugar, the fish sauce, a tblespoon of soysauce if you have it, then add a few handfuls of frozen peas and about half a cup of water, add the chicken last as uts allready cooked (sliced into small pieces) until its heated through. a bit of salt and pepper optinal, and basil if you have any.

a great cheat for quick stirfrys are those squeezie herbs in the veg section of the grocery,.. I normally have at any given time, garlic, basil, ginger, and lemongrass

its quick and easy and no bothing about chopping and grating

hope it turns out well whatever you end up with

serves 4-6
60g/2oz butter
1 onion, finely chopped
60g/2oz Parma ham (use chicken)
2 garlic cloves, crushed (optional)
300g/10 oz risotto rice (any rice will do)
300g/10 oz frozen peas, thawed
salt and black pepper
1 liter/1 3/4 pints hot chicken or veg stock
60g/2oz Parmesan cheese (any cheese would do)
2 tbsp parsley.

Melt the butter in a large pan. When it is foaming, add the onion, Parma ham and garlic and cok gently, stirring occasionally for 3-5mins until onion is soft but not coloured.
(Not sure this will work with chicken now. What about a chicken risotto?)
Add the rice and stir to coat in the butter. Add peas and seasoning.
Pour in half the stock and cook, stirring constantly, over a low heat until it is absorbed. Add a little more stock and cook stirring constantly until it has been absorbed.
Continue adding the stock in this way until the rice is just tender and the mixture is thick and creamy. It should take about 25 mins.
Serve hot, sprinkled with the parsley and Parmesan cheese.

Or bacon. It is very nice for when you do have the right ingredients.
