Does anyone know at what age prawns are ok for children, please?
I had some king prawns lunch time and ds1 scoffed a few, then I wonderd if he should really have had them or not.

Thanks.

If they are eating meat I guess seafood i OK?
Kids in other cultures are given seafood like me give potatoes so I think its fine.

Not a medical opinion though!

my kids love prawns and mussels

I suppose DD was about 12 months when she first had them

gogetter · 26/07/2007 14:29

Thanks-just wasn't sure if you had to be careful with seafood.
Maybe I should give them to him more often-he loved them.

2 years for seafood.

Seona1973 · 26/07/2007 15:12

fish and seafood is not recommended for under 6 months by the Food Standards Agency so if you go by that rationale then it is ok after 6 months. It is just advised not to give raw shellfish to babies and children, as they are a high food poisoning risk food.

Thanks-he's just turned 2 so think It must be pretty safe by now.
