Help! Veggie ideas for middle-eastern flavoured party this weekend!

I'm completely stumped. We're doing mezze to start, so there will be loads of houmous and tabbouleh, salads, cheese, olives, that kind of thing. I'm doing chicken with lebanese potato salad and moroccan carrots (watch me mix-and-match recklessly!) for carnivores, and a salmon with a persian sauce for people who eat fish. But I am completely stumped for a main course for the veggies. Any ideas?

Falafel of course. There's a really nice beans in tomato dish but I can't remember what it's called. Spanakopitta (OK, I know, Greek).

You need a book like Claudia Roden's to browse for inspiration.

I lurve halloumi. We always slap some on the BBQ. But falafel is easier for a party.

Spiced couscous with dried fruit (incl apricots) and roasted peppers on a flaky pastry bed, served with roasted baby potatoes and bitter salad leaves - yum. Halloumi skewers great too.

but ploppy poos PC, ploppy poos

PrettyCandles · 24/07/2007 22:43

So what? The guests will have left the party by the time the falafel comes through. Anyway vegetarians can cope with interesting poos - it's what theyr'e used to.

Falafel are lovely. You're covered for vegans/dairy allergies as well.

Halloumi it is, then! (Why didn't I think of that?) Thanks everyone.
