It was too hot for Claudine a lusty 23 year old waitress at a French restaurant. She ran her hair through her natural blonde locks. Her firm but outsize breasts strained uncomfortably against her uniform. She looked at the peach sorbet being dished up by Thierry longingly...
Okay that was only a joke. What I really wanted to do was start a thread with the most fantastic fabulous meals in the world. Food pornography without the sex. Starting with my lunch today:-
Imagine the scene. 35 degrees in the shade but not uncomfotable because of a cooling breeze on the terrace of the restaurant. Shade is provided by lots of plane tees. The ambience and the service is delightfully informal - no patronising yards of nappery here.
Now for the food:
Appetiser - a plate full of unidentifiable yummy nibbly things that even the DCs like
Starter - Aubergine roule with goat's cheese
The children both had prawn and avocado profiteroles
Main course - DH had roasted rack of lamb with garlic clove confit. I had a chickeny thing with little bits of roast potato and something that resembled ratatouille but minus the tomatoes and the courgettes. Was delightful. The children had a bit of pave - which turned out to be a bit of steak with lots of wonderful bits on the side.
Pud - This was called an Assiette des Magnons - which was the house dessert. This was a dinner plate with a mini creme brulee (fab) a little lemon mousse (fab fab) a rasperry fruity thing (fab fab fab) and an apricot sorbet with a tangy coulis.
The wine was a bottle of local rose. I never have any time for rose unless it is warm, but it comes into its own anywhere really hot.
I am running out of adjectives. Join me in forgetting the farking diets and celebrating a fabulous meal.
