Because I foolishly agreed to make dd1 an elaborate birthday cake featuring several Swiss rolls in various sizes - I had a go this afternoon but the finished product just ended up collapsing and looking like a pancake

Really don't want to go down the Mr Kipling route, I like baking.

Home made swiss rolls tend to crisp on top when cooking so don't make such a tight cylinder shape when rolled as shop bought.
