Not getting my oats!

I can't find any oat based breakfast cereal that I actually like. So far I've tried

Porridge - just can't take to it
Oatabix - taste and texture of sawdust
Oat muesli (Sainsbury's own) - too sweet and chewy

Can someone recommend a decent cereal, please?

have you tried the dorset cereals mueslis, they do a multipack of all of them and there might be one you like.
muesli, fresh fruit, milk and yoghurt is a good combination and may dilute the oats

sugar free alpen?

or make bircher muesli
soak oats overnight in apple juice
add chopped fruit and yoghurt in the morning
divine

Thank you.

I'll give them all a try

Interesting idea re using apple juice!

but why eat oats if you don't like them?

Mercy · 18/07/2007 12:41

I've got to lower my cholesterol level.

And even though I'm not keen on porridge I did find it kept me going for longer than my usual 2 Weetabix.

what about oatcakes instead?

rebelmum1 · 18/07/2007 13:10

ready brek

chevre · 18/07/2007 13:14

porridge with maple syrup?

PinkMartini · 18/07/2007 13:21

Have you tried the mini oatibix? Much sweeter than oatibix and don't go soggy like the bigger ones (and weetabix do)
Yum

Dorset Cereals - all fab; I like the one in the brown box best (high fibre I think). Have with either grated apple or blueberries and nat yogurt with honey for breakfast each day. I love it.

ChudleyMintonCanons · 18/07/2007 13:58

the small oatibix come in different flavours - plain, sultana & apple, and rasin & choc chip.
Jordans Country Crisp , several varietes including Honey Clusters

mmmmmmmmmm, porridge with maple syrup sounds more like it!

Think I'll try Dorset Cereals next (that is once I've chomped my way through the oat muesli)

Thank you all
