I am starting a diet on Monday and usually have a huge bowl of cereal for breakfast - but need some yummy ideas that will still fill me up for the morning.

Muesli with yoghurt and chopped fruit - yum

Porridge with fruit

Yogurt, fruit and skimmed milk smoothie (with oats to fill you up).

Cor, I'm hungry now

Porridge with skimmed milk and mashed banana or stewed apple & cinnamon.

Fruit smoothies made with natural low fat yoghurt, skimmed milk, strawberries or other seasonal fruit.

Boiled egg, toast with a tiny skim of butter. Will take longer to digest than carbs so you'll be more likely to avoid a mid-morning snack.

You can still have cereal, but make sure they are low fat, low sugar such as fruit and fibre and actually measure out 1 1/2 oz's and try and eat it slowly!

also try

Fruit salad and fat free yoghurt

Ceebee74 · 12/07/2007 19:49

Thanks for the ideas - unfortunately I don't like yoghurt.

Furball - it is the measuring out I don't like - it seems such a piddly amount that I know I will still be hungry afterwards

dont measure out just have a moderate amount and have some fruit with it try to choose low gi cereal so porridge, all bran, crunchy bran, suger free muselli with nuts, also peanut butter on toast good

FirenzeandZooey · 12/07/2007 22:26

Protein will keep you fuller for longer, so I would advise you to have some nuts or seeds with your breakfast even though they are not low fat.

I have got into a habot of 2 scrambled eggs, done in the microwave witha splash of milk. 160 - 180 cals dependant on size f egg) and the protien thing does fill you up more

handlemecarefully · 12/07/2007 22:36

I'm echoing whokilledharrypotter. I have muesli with onken biopot strawberry yoghurt and chopped up strawberries and raspberries. I find it a real treat (rather than sigh - healthy food!)

Malfoynomore · 12/07/2007 22:37

I tend to have fruit or freshly expressed Juices for Breakfast, however, I know a lot of people that swear by protein rich breakfasts to boost their metabolism....i.e. grilled Turkeyrashers and Eggs, or Omelette or something like that...

FirenzeandZooey · 12/07/2007 22:37

Ooh yes eggs good also. I have seeds on my cereal every day except for one day when I forgot. I was ravenous by 11 am and couldn't work out why - until I realised I hadn't had seeds that morning.

handlemecarefully · 12/07/2007 22:37

oops just noticed you don't like yog

scrambled egg and salmon on a slice of wholemeal toast is another of mine (I am talking the thin slivers of salmon rather than a salmon steak, I just cut it up with clean kitchen scissors and chuck it in)

Malfoynomore · 12/07/2007 22:38

ceebee....the not measuring things out is, why I like things like Slimming world or the WW Core plan....
