Doesn't HAVE to be dairy free - not allergy, just that my dd wants to bake and I don't have a lot of marge!
Any ideas? - Please!

ooh, tricky
have you lots of eggs?
Nigella's Party Cake:
Whisk 6 egg yolks with 200g caster sugar till creamy, fold in 200g ground almonds and the zest of a lemon.
Whisk 6 egg whites in a anotehr bowl, beat a spoonful of white into the yolks and then fold the rest in gently.
Pour into a 1.5l tin (she uses a brioche tin but I don't have one so use a ring mould thing) and bake 1hr 160 C

or she does a version with clementines

Or Quick Emergency biscuits don't use much marg and satisfy the Baking Urge:
1oz sugar
2oz butter
3oz flour
cream marg & sugar, stir in flour, knead, roll out, cut out, 10min gas 4

Emergency biscuits sounds good.
nigella's sounds a bit complicated for me and I don't have ground almonds.
I heard that marge could be substituted with oil for cakes - or eggs - have a few of them!! - Anyone know?

aha, if you have oil you can probably make muffins - hang on

Try looking for a vegan carrot cake recipe online as they often use oil in place of eggs and marge. Actually try vegan recipes in general as I would imagine a lot use oil. And let us know what it turns out like!

Swiss roll would be quite fun to do and needs no fat. Roll it up with jam. Or add cocoa for chocolate version. cuisinedumonde.com/swiss_roll.html

Thanks everyone - we made muffins - YUM!!
They were slightly unusual - we made half apple and cinnamon - very nice - my fave!
and half, I found some m and m's which my dd thought was a great idea to put in. - They looked a bit strange - rainbow coloured as the colourings ran!! But she assures me they taste good.
