Icing for biscuits - what do you use?

I have to make some biscuits for a baby shower & need to ice them in pretty colours... I was thinking of just doing the icing sugar & water thing but that always has a funny icing sugary taste imo... Can anyone suggest something else?

TIA

White chocolate? You can melt it over a saucepan of water and then add drops of food colouring to make lovely pastel colours

Oh, that's a really good idea, thanks Greensleeves!

A tiny drop of vanilla extract in the icing.

cream cheese / icing sugar / vanilla

I have a recipe which uses egg yolk mixed with food colouring. Decorate the biscuits before you cook them though.

Ooo, califrau, you've been a busy bee!

Shame about the cookies but glad the cake was a success. Back to the kitchen, girl...

Thanks for the other ideas. Not sure I trust myself with the egg yolk thing but like the cream cheese idea. Will have to have a practice run!
