The Cauldron mushroom burgers are the nicest BUT they fall to bits fairly easily so Quorn burgers are probably safest.

alfielooloo · 03/07/2007 22:48

Thanks carmenere. Thing is the Quorn burgers do sort of turn to cardboard don't they. Am veggie myself & always seem to end up with bloody auful burger wherever we go while rest of family have a nice juicy burger!

There must be more veggies out there??

The sainsburys meatfree in a green box are good. healthy and cheap too

albatross · 03/07/2007 22:50

how about some kebabs to not all veggies like meat substitutes

FlamingTomatoes · 03/07/2007 22:51

I think those cauliflower cheese crunch things, although not burgery, are much nicer than substitute burgers.

dassie · 03/07/2007 22:53

Have you tried tivall?

TroyMcClure · 03/07/2007 22:53

NONE
try meat

albatross · 03/07/2007 22:53

I agree flamingtomotoes but they would fall apart

dassie · 03/07/2007 22:54

oh - or the tivall frankfurters.

Halloumi kebabs are lovely on the babecue (even when burnt!)

FlamingTomatoes · 03/07/2007 22:54

no, put a folded bit of tinfoil on the barbie, and put he things on that to cook.

charliecat · 03/07/2007 22:56

Sainsburys, erm, spicy beanburgers.

quorn ones are awful unless you put loads of oil on them.

tescos have quite a good range of standard burgers or waitrose for more interesting ones

alfielooloo · 04/07/2007 13:56

Loads of great ideas here, quite fancy Haloumi but have never made it so don't want to try it for the first time for loads of people & mess it up! I really am going to have to try it out though, is it on the cheese counter?
Might try a selection of Tesco & Sainsburys burgers, just to keep it interesting.

Thanks everyone, just got to pray for sunshine all day on Sunday now

linda mccartney or do those big mushrooms - right size for bums too.

BBBleedingGumsMurphy · 04/07/2007 13:59

'buns'

BettySpaghetti · 04/07/2007 14:01

Spicy Bean Burgers are lovely -not sure which make but I think most that I've tried have been fairly good

GreenRottingCod · 04/07/2007 14:02

cauldron mushroom ones are lovely

quorn ones are manky IMO

make your own? I made some yesterday and they were gorgeous

dassie · 04/07/2007 20:37

You just need to make the halloumi cubes big enough (about an inch square). Nice with bell pepper or tomatoes in between

alfielooloo · 05/07/2007 12:06

Can I have the recipe please greenrottingcod? Don't know if I will make them for the fete though, got 101 other jobs to do. Might try them out for myself on Saturday.

Asdas do their own veggie burgers. They look like real burgers (sort of) and even have chargrilled marks on them but they are really really nice.
