I was looking for vegan cake recipes, and found this. Ok, it's not vegan, but it is bloody scary ... what on earth would that taste like?

A friend made chocolate covered brussels sprouts for a house warming party (I admit I dared him to do it)

They looked like chocolate truffles or similar. Watching people's faces as they bit into and chewed them is one of my happiest memories

I have a cookery book that I got as a prize at school. I am sure it was out dated even then in the mid-80s. SOme of the stuff is horendous. I also have a book called 'Making a meal of cheese' which DH's late grandma gave us when we were expecting ds1 and she was concerned that I as having to work full time and 'run a house'.....

Hideous hideous food!

Just have to add (with my pedant hat one) that DH's grandma wasn't 'late' when she gave us the book....

lol at you lot.
I once had a bloody (literally) chicken joint on a pile of instant mash with baked beans.
It was on a grim winter's evening in Russia with a Peace Corps volunteer.

The thought of the blood seeping into the potato combined with vile Moldovan wine has me heaving now.

Moondog you have just triggered a hidden memory.
Aged 19 (just), interailling in Europe with Freddiecat. Actually no, this was the point where I abandoned her in Vienna to return to Prague for some bloke. Anyway.
Czech cafe out in the sticks. Dumplings. Cheap beer. goodness knows what else. Vomiting on trams.
nice

NQC, are you looking for anything in particular? I have lots of vegan recipes.

NotQuiteCockney · 30/06/2007 20:30

TT, I'm looking for reasonably healthy vegan desserts. Ideally without anything too scary in them (no soya marg, please). I will probably just do the linseed for egg thing, I have loads of no-dairy cakes I like.

I was more browsing than looking with intent - when the winter comes, I will want to do cakes for the co-op sometimes, when I'm on food.

nqc, There is a book called The Everyday Vegan which has some lovely looking healthy desserts. I've never tried any of them - don't know why - I tend to go for things I've done before for speed/simplicity. Anyway, you're welcome to borrow it if you like
I have one called Mother Nature's Garden as well - super healthy and vegan. Again, if you want a borrow, just say.

That website is fantastic. I really feel like sending the link to my MIL. She won't find it funny, she'll find it inspirational.
