hi, I'd like to make bread and butter pudding but I feel uneasy about it as first time i've tried it was awful. Anybody has a good tried and tested recipy, please?

I use a recipe like This But don't heat the milk or strain it. Just whisk the eggs, milk and cream if you are using (I don't) and pour over the bread. Easy peasy

Thank you.

I just butter bread, cut it up, bung in dish with layers of sugar, spices and fruit beween and then pour egg and milk mix over. leave to stand then bake.

I made this one and it was loooovely:

I sprinkled chopped dried apricots in it as well. However it did take longer to cook than the recipe says, so either do it at a bit of a higher temp, or leave it in the oven for about 45 mins.

I'm really tempted to do that for tea tonight now...
