I made the base for a Sherpherd's pie yesterday - intend to use it tomorrow & it's in the fridge. Can I put the potatoes on today and then put it back in the fridge or will I breed all sorts of little nasties by putting hot food on top of refrigerated food and poison the household?

TIA

Let the potato cool at least to room temperature before you put it on the chilled meat mix.

if you do what lilymaid said, it will be absolutely fine. Wouldn't put hot food on top of chilled, but cooled food on top of chilled, for it all to be chilled and reheated once will be fine.

Thanks
