So, how do you open a coconut, exactly?

Dh bought one from the supermarket. Despite hitting the darn thing with a hammer (and ds using his hammer) it's not giving way. I did ask him how he planned to open it but he said he knew...

Any ideas?

I've always flung them at the patio myself
no good if you want the milk from it though, if you do, best to drill a hole in it with a hand drill if you've got one or try and bore one into it with anything that might do the job, pour out the milk then fling it at the patio

oooh we've just done it. Take coconut and bang a small screwdriver into the top, and drain out the milk into a cup. And then take it outside and smash it with a hammer.
