Is there such a thing as healthy jelly. Just realised my Ds can have jelly as is gluten/dairy free but when i looked at the ingredients i was amazed by the amount of artificial flavourings and e numbers etc. I know you can get sugar free but that still has too may additives.

You can make your own using gelatine and juice....easy! Annabel Karmel has a recipe for it in one of her Baby and Toddler books.

You can get Vege-gel in the supermarkets, which is based, Ithink, on carrageenan moss. You can also get agar-agar in health food shops. With any of those, or with gelatine, you can easily make your own jelly with fruit juice. You m ay not even have to add much sugar, just taste it and make it a little sweeter than you would want it to be if you were drinking it. The sugar is easier to add as a syrup, so make some up in advance by boiling some water and adding sugar to it while boiling in the pan until no more will dissolve, then pour into a sterilised bottle and keep in the fridge for a couple of weeks.
