Urgent chicken question

rosealbie · 18/06/2007 21:32

I've just discovered some opened, sliced cooked chicken in the fridge, must have been there for a week or so! It smelt vile and now i'm wondering if it could have contaminated any of the other food in the fridge?

I don't eat meat myself and so am worried as I don't know much about how harmful it can be.

Am I worrying over nothing? Thanks

won't have contaminated anything else unless the chicken was actually touching other food

bacteria are clever but cannot fly

put a dish of bicarb in the fridge to get rid of the pong.

I love MrsBadger. She knows EVERYTHING.

thanks MrsBadger,

I didn't realise it was the chicken so opened up the packet in the fridge to have a smell. This doesn't mean any bacteria were unleashed then?

Really, really paranoid about meat

nope, opening packet unleashes smell but not bacteria - you're fine

Sorry after reading some very inappropriate threads on here tonight, I just had this flash of the chicken feeling up the wafer thin ham and the ham yelling to the cheese

'he's done it again, dirty bastard, dial 999 for the celery'
