AIBU to expect DH and DS to not eat from the homemade Buffett?

Surely I cannot be the only person that feels physically sick at the thought of other people’s homemade sandwiches, pies etc at a party!! Its no joke it literally makes me want to heave. But the problem is that I expect DH and DS to not eat it either. That too makes me feel sick. We are going to be going to a party soon, step son and partner. She is not very clean, cat hairs etc. I will be really annoyed if DH and DS eat anything. AIBU??

It is perhaps best if your DH and DSS go to this party without you. YABVU, but I expect this is beyond your control.

If you are worried by a homemade buffet, you certainly should NEVER eat out in a restaurant!

Every sandwich is made somewhere by someone. I used to work in a food factory, on one of the line workers, handling food, without gloves, used to deliberately not wash her hands after going to the loo, because she hated her job.

What on earth makes you think home made is less clean that shop bought?

Taylor22 · 16/10/2018 12:40

Yes. YABU. You should not go to the party at all and they should enjoy themselves.

You should see a DR though.

Yeah, this can;t be for real. If it is, you need to seek help for your obsessive, intrusive thoughts and controlling behavior.

MyKingdomForBrie · 16/10/2018 12:50

You're free to turn down 'home made' food, though it's fairly irrational, wanting your dss and DH to do likewise should suggest to you that you need help with your thought processes, that's not reasonable.

Very odd. Do you and your family never eat anything which hasn't been prepared entirely yourself from raw ingredients? - even then, the chicken may have been booted around the factory a bit etc.

Vabvvvu. Please do not let your children know about your phobia let alone expect them to behave the same

Judygarlandspills · 16/10/2018 13:12

No you cannot control what someone else chooses to eat. Why don’t you tell your step son how dirty his partner is and why you’d prefer his father wouldn’t eat there? No? Didn’t think so.
