***PENNIES*** - catering possibility?

I always swore I wouldn't start threads with people's names, but didn't want to just CAT you totally out of the blue.

I'm looking for a caterer for dd's Christening next month, and searching the archives on here for caterers I found a thread where you said you were considering becoming one. I don't know whether you followed up on it or not, but even if you aren't a professional, might you be interested in helping cater for it?

There will be around 55 adults and 40-45 children, and it will be held at my house (about 15-20 mins from you) on a Sunday afternoon.

Can you let me know asap if you would be interested or not, to save me contacting every caterer in the area and driving myself mad!

Actually, if you aren't interested yourself, can you recommend one at all?!

CSWS - gosh, no I'm nowhere near achieving that yet - infact I'm finding that just cooking for 4 is doing my head in at the moment! You know who you go through phases when you just can't be bothered!!!

Anyway, yes I can recommend one. The Lobster Pot - based in Welwyn. website here using new link placing thingie which is much better than the old one might I add . They catered for our housewarming in December at which we had 50 adults and 20 children, although I did the kids food.

Next weekend we're having a BBQ for a similar number of people and we're using these guys but obviously I can't give a recommendation for you until we've had the bash. I'll let you know though afterwards. I'm not bothering with doing kids food as I've asked them to omit any salt and then the kids can easily have what we have.

Sorry I can't help. Yes, catering is still an idea I'd like to pursue maybe one day but tis still currently the stuff of dreams!

My younger DD is the same age as yours so if you fancy meeting up feel free to CAT me or whatever.

Oh BTW we didn't use The Lobster Pot for next week's bash only because they don't really do BBQ's (but they do do buffets).

Whoooosh · 14/06/2007 14:48

Sorry for hijack but any luck with HM yet Pennies?

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/06/2007 14:51

lol - I've used Hansons before!!!! Had them for my 30th, for canapes and nibbles rather than a full on meal. They were quite good, but not good enough to make me want to use them again without shopping around.

We had a hog roast with Cobbett and Keen a couple of years ago, and that was fabulous, but I can't find any trace of them now, so assume they must have gone out of business.

Will take a look at the lobster pot now, thanks.

I'd definitely like to meet up sometime. Will renew my CAT thing and be in touch soon.

Hope the party goes well this weekend.

Not really. I have managed to score a 2 second meeting with His Lorship the Headmaster a week on Monday. In the meantime tho, no. 2 choice which I mentioned before sent a letter out saying that current encumbant headmaster is on his way out now so there's something of an unknown quantity about that too. All very frustrating. DD1 has got her two day unduction at no. 2 next week as well which I feel bad about putting her through if it's possibly not the one, although two mornings is never going to do her any harm and I do view it as a try before you buy scenario.

Pennies · 14/06/2007 14:54

Well we were after a hog roast but it just was going to work out too expensive for the number of people.

Interesting re. Hansons.

We think we will use TLP come our Xmas party as we were very pleased with them.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/06/2007 21:08

Bugger, TLP can't do the date, and I had another no from another company this afternoon too. At this rate I'll have no option but to do it all myself. That wouldn't be so bad if I could just use Waitrose or M&S entertaining, but I need it all to be dairy free, which their stuff isn't.

Aaarrrgh! Right, will look at Hansons site again, and drop them an email.
