I have a dalek biscuit cutter and would like to make a bundle of biscuits to sell at ds1 school fete next week. Need a really simple biscuit recipe (not one that leaves a funny tastein your mouth), or even a simple gingerbread recipe please.

TIA

hi wurls

this one from delia is pretty fail safe. She is wordy but read through - is simple - heat syrap, bung in butter, mix, rst, roll, cut, exterminate.

I don't bother with cinammon or ground cloves (WTF) or orange somethies adn still great. Also I use just golden syrap as once bought black treacle for this and it sat in the cupboard for a year - don't buy it now.

Where did you get your cutter?

I bought a greens mix, gives you biscuit mix and dalex cookie cutter. TBH havent used the biscuit mix i just wanted the dalek cutter. Got it in asda think it cost about £1.48

plain biscuits (that can be iced)

4oz butter
4oz caster sugar
1 egg beaten
a few drops of vanilla essence
10oz plain flour
pinch of salt

oven 190C

beat butter and sugar (I soften the butter first in the microwave), then add the egg and the vanilla ess till all fully mixed. Then add in the flour and mix till all in a ball (this can take a bit of time - you sort of knead it till it's in a dough). I usually put it in the fridge for about 10-20mins and then roll it out (thickness of a £1 coin say) and cut out the shapes.

Cook in oven for 8-10mins, wait till they cool down then ice.
