What can I put on toast for a 10 month old?

Any ideas? My DS loves toast and bread generally (one of the few savoury things he does like). Anyone get any ideas for what I can put on it in an effort to get more food in him? Many thanks.

honey or marmite? (Not together obviously)

Ceolas · 02/06/2007 08:31

cheese?

Nbg · 02/06/2007 08:31

Whisk up an egg, dip in the bread and make eggy bread.

When I'm feeling creative, I cut into shapes

Tartex (like marmite only with hardly any salt). Peanut butter, or if you're avoiding peanuts, almond or cashew butter. Soft cheese (not dairylea, but philly). Mash up a bit of avocado and spread it on. Hummous - hugely popular with most babies. Toasted mature cheddar cheese - DS wasn't massively keen on cheese until he was nearly a year and now he'll eat it in preference to virtually anything.

I think with honey it is recommeneded you wiat until over the age of one, something to do with a very rare complication (botulism iirc)

What about cheese triangles, houmous, jam

Ceolas · 02/06/2007 08:34

My DD1 loved hummous when she was a baby. Won't touch it now at 7!

Philadelphia.

Brilliant. Thank you so much. Was feeling a bit hopeless about the whole thing - and now feeling inspired!

Pate and veggie pates/quark/cheese/roule but not sure on age. lovely. Have you thought about diferent types of breads ie brumpets/pittas/chapaties/flat taco/ things that you use for fajitas.

Can't have honey until they're 1 year old

My DC used to love this tuna mayo paste groceries.asda.com/product/tuna/asda-tuna-mayonnaise-paste/19265 and Prince’s sardine and tomato paste, which you can still buy.

my daughter loved mashed banana ,you could also try mashed avocado. You could also see if they like scrambled egg with marmite toast

AtleastitsnotMonday · 18/02/2019 14:01

Have you tried toasted sandwiches, you can get lots in a toastie!

Easy veggie paté: zap some frozen peas/sweetcorn/broccoli in the microwave, drain and mash with a little butter or cream cheese. Spread on toast. DD loves it, calls it Green Toast.

Bluesheep8 · 24/02/2019 09:33

You can make fish 'Pate' with sardines in tom sauce, seafood sticks and a little natural yoghurt. Blitz with a hand blender. It's delicious!

Another saying no honey until they're one, the NHS guidelines are here Smile
