Holding food in her mouth

My dd who is 30 months has got into a really bad habit of holding her food in her mouth for ages and ages. She is really lazy when it comes to eating and this is just making feeding times even more difficult. Doesn't really matter what she is eating, she can even hold onto yogurt. Her record so far is 35 mins. Most of the time I just give up and plead with her to spit it out. Not sure how to encourage her to stop and am become pretty tired with the whole thing. Has anyone else had this problem and if so any advise/tips. Ta

I didn't answer before because I have no experience of this but I expect it is like most table behaviour issues it'll go away if you ignore it - not easy though.
