Lately ours are really powerful!

Yes I think there is a conspirasy to drug us all using onions, if they make them very strong in smell and taste then you won't notice the cocaine they are injecting them with

I agree. I have to wear swimming goggles to chop them these days as they affect my eyes so badly.

It depends on the soil where they were grown. So Spanish onions(as well as being a different type) are milder because of the soil. Onions grown in the UK tend to be stronger.
