Fresh picked herbs, how to store them?

A colleague at work has given me some Fresh Rosemary and Fennel from her garden. they are sealed in little food bags but once I got home I realised I'm not sure how to store them.

Should I store them in the fridge?
Should I take them out of the bag? or open the bag or leave the bag sealed?

And does anyone have any ideas for using fresh Fennel?

Any advice appreciated, thanks

Freeze them, they do very well and you can use them from frozen. No help otherwise though!
