So what new "food" was introduced to you by your partner?

When I started going out with DH, we use to take turns to cook. He introduced me to things like instant mash, Fray Bentos pies and stewed meat in a tin.

I still married him anyway.

I still treat DH now to Fray Bentos pies but he still refuses to indulge my love of cous-cous, chickpeas or lentils.

So what delightful, mouthwatering culinary delights did you first happen on when you met your partner or did you introduce them to your favourite treat?

Smothering every meal cooked by an English person in Encona hot pepper sauce.

Refusing 'dry food' - everything must have a gravy, sauce, coulis, broth etc (oh, and a liberal dash of Econa, obviously).

Putting about half a pound of butter on every pasta dish (f**k olive oil!).

Drinking gallons of red wine at all meals.

...these are my DH's food legacies.

My first husband introduced me to curries and doner kebabs many years ago. It's probably the only thing I'm grateful to him for.

My next partner introduced me to "Dog", which was anything in the fridge that needed eating up put in a frying pan with eggs poured over (which I suppose is an omlette).

I've introduced dh to those exotic things called fruit and vegetables.

polenta
proper runny risotto
properly cooked fresh fish which wasnt boil in a bag!
Salmi (italian dish of braised beef in red wine)
Homemade foccaccia and grissini

Properly cooked food at home every night. He is a chef and I am so lucky that he wants to cook in the evenings as well!

A concoction called "Bean Surprise" which consists of baked beans under a layer of mashed potato and topped with a generous layer of melted cheese. [vomit emoticon]
I ate it once to be polite (in the very early days obviously) and that was it.

I have introduced DH to 95% of his current diet (he already had tried beer before he met me!)
