Apart from boiling the carrots and swede, then mashing it up, (mine always seems to either be watery or still hard to mash), anyone got any great tips for the damn thing, DD loves it...

put the veg back in the hot pan to mash - it dries up some of the excess water. Adding cream makes it extra nice (and children need their fat remember ) as soes lack peper, and a grating of fresh nutmeg.

I've recently got a potato ricer for mashing potatoes and it's so much easier and a much more consistent texture. Haven't tried using one for carrots and swede yet, but I'm sure it'd make mashing them easier too...

I'd add sweet potatoes to the carrot & swede mash to make it less watery..butter first (so it melts) and then either full fat milk or creme fraiche and whisk away.
