What is the difference? Apart from Price?

POrridge is just oats. Ready Brek has all sorts of other stuff in it.

Imawurzel · 18/05/2007 19:13

Ready brek is smoother and porridge is oatier.

CorrieDale · 18/05/2007 19:13

The ready brek is very powdery so it cooks more quickly. But it doesn't take long to microwave porridge anyway and the difference in price is HUGE.

totaleclipse · 18/05/2007 19:14

Ready Brek has salt in, and lots of other crap I assume.

FrannyandZooey · 18/05/2007 19:14

I think ready brek is kind of ground oats (with vitamins added I believe) and porridge is made from whole oats? Possibly?

FrannyandZooey · 18/05/2007 19:15

I think if oyu want a smoother texture you can just whizz the oats in a blender (dry) before you add the milk and cook them. Loads cheaper.

jellyjelly · 18/05/2007 19:15

So porridge is cheaper? Is there much difference in the value one to the top end one.

Am drastically trying to keep my money ans my waistline (more important is the moeny though)

These are the ready brek ingredients

Wholegrain Rolled Oats (60%), Wholegrain Oat Flour, Calcium, Niacin, Iron, Pantothenic Acid (B5), Vitamin B6, Riboflavin (B2), Thiamin (B1), Folic Acid, Vitamin B12

So no salt or other crap, but I still think it's overpriced and porridge oats are much better!!

FrannyandZooey · 18/05/2007 19:16

but it hasn't got salt in:

Wholegrain Rolled Oats (60%), Wholegrain Oat Flour, Calcium, Niacin, Iron, Pantothenic Acid (B5), Vitamin B6, Riboflavin (B2), Thiamin (B1), Folic Acid, Vitamin B12.

jellyjelly · 18/05/2007 19:17

OP posts:
southeastastra · 18/05/2007 19:17

tesco's own hot oat cereal is yummy i'm addicted to it in winter

CorrieDale · 18/05/2007 19:18

I've bought Scotts, organic, and variou value oats - great for flapjacks, etc. I can't really tell the difference TBH!

jellyjelly · 18/05/2007 19:19

thanks i will buy the value then if there is no difference.
