Doh ... difference between a processor and a blender?!!

Stupid question no doubt, but I've always done everything in our food processor (now broken). Urgently need a new one to quickly whip up last-minute fairy cakes for DS's 'baby welcoming' party. Nigella says put all ingredients in a processor but John Lewis website has both processors and blenders - processors mention cutting and chopping but as all I'm doing is mixing, really, I'm a bit confused!

Can anyone also recommend a good model - not too expensive - of whatever it is I need?!
