and now need a recipe for crusty white or French style bread. It's super-urgent, I need to have this ready for dinner tonight. Anyone out there? I've looked on the internet and found only American sites with cup measurements, which I don't understand and can't be doing with.

And while you're all there, any nice recipes for multigrain bread too, or am I pushing it ?

TIA!

How do I translate the Delia recipe to a breadmaker? Sorry for being thick but I'm a total novice when it comes to bread.

Thanks Haggis, I'll do that. I did try to see if they had the same recipes on their website but it's a poncey Italian make and they obviously couldn't be bothered. I must find it soon though, I only know one programme and don't want to be condemned to making the same bread forever.

What is your machine? What size loaf do you want?

KathyMCMLXXII · 10/05/2007 15:27

also how long is the programme? A recipe for another machine might work if it's got roughly the same time to rise etc.

Brangelina · 10/05/2007 15:35

Ariete and a 750g. loaf (I think). Not fussed about the size really, I just want decent bread (wails).

I think the programme's about 3hrs 30 mins

Does this help at all?

It has recipes for different machines - not sure if yours specifically is there though....

The basic French recipe for my Panasonic is:

1 tsp yeast
400g strong white flour
15g butter
1 tsp salt
300ml water

The size would be the same.
However this is for a 6 hour programme so it may not rise very well in the time - you might want to just do it on the 'dough' programme and then you can rise/bake as long as you like.

HTH.
