I always found just just eating pate was good

I mean have you EVER have food poisoning from pate?

Don't sue me though

Alternatively I make this tuna pate:

  • 3 boiled eggs
  • can of tuna
  • spoonful of dried tarragon
  • 2 oz butter

blend, swear thickly on buttered toast

A little bit will be fine. It's the vitamin A in pate thats dangerous to pregnant women but I did some research when I was pregnant and basically you'd have to eat a tub of pate everyday for it to disfigure your baby. A little bit, once will be fine.

NotQuiteCockney · 03/05/2007 12:23

There's a small listeria risk - it's not just about vitamin a.

But if the pate is from a good source, within date, and you have no other worries about infection, I'd go for it. I ate a lot of pate while pg with DS2, and he lived to tell the tale.

Oh god I think I will love you both till eternity

Thats like music to my ears!

I'm glad my pregnancy pate craving has helped you out!

Make sure you enjoy every mouthful - and have some for me as I'm on a diet and can't eat any

AnnabelCaramel · 03/05/2007 12:25

I like mp's recipe - but is swearing on toast like swearing on the bible?

Nbg · 03/05/2007 12:28

morningpaper · 03/05/2007 13:41

Pate for Pregnancy:

  • 3 raw egg yolks
  • glass whisky
  • 3lbs liver
  • 3lbs prawns (cheap in Asda because past use-by date)

Whizz together, swear on toast

You could try making duck rillettes

one recipe here

Iklboo · 03/05/2007 14:14

MP - sure you missed the 8lb of unpasteurised runny bkue cheese from your recipe

morningpaper · 03/05/2007 14:14

oh yes Ikloo

Aloha · 03/05/2007 14:16

You can have any tinned pate that isn't liver pate. That's totally fine and risk free, though the risks from tinned liver pate in small quantities would be quite acceptable to me, personally.

Nbg · 03/05/2007 14:17

thanks petronella but its too faffy lol.

Need something instant

PetronellaPinkPants · 03/05/2007 14:22
