cooking roast beef? help!

Ok, this is a bit embarrassing, but I've never cooked a roast in my life. I want to start making Sunday a family day to sit down for a roast together and want to start today!

I have a joint of beef and want to cook it tonight. Can someone tell me the easiest way to do this, to get a nice, juicy roast? And how long it will take, oven temps, etc..?

It weighs about 0.7kg.

Thanks!

How do you like it cooked, we do ours for 33 mins per kilo or 15 mins per pound for rare so probably 5 mins longer for medium. Also if you heat up oil in roasting tin on hob and seal it it will stay moist and needs to be cooked in a preheated oven set at 210 dgegrees c or gas mark 7. This is from Nigella and found it is the most foolproff way of doing it. Do you want nice eay gravy to go with it?

thanks for that...am preheating the oven now..have pout some garlic in the roasting tin too with olive oil - will this be nice?

Will be making gravy too, any ideas?

Gravy, make up beef stock with a cube ready. Then when you are resting the meat (for 20 mins is best), splash a bit of red wine or maybe some Marsela in the roasting pan to deglaze the meat juices. Then add the stock and reduce down to at leat half the amount if not more.
Make a paste of butter and plain flour, just a tablespoon will do. When gravy tastes nice season and whisk in beurre marie (think thats what the butter mixture is called). Then it is done
