ComeOVeneer · 24/04/2007 15:32

I would do halved anya new potatoes tossed in olive oil and roasted in the oven and asparagus drizzled with melted butter.

FoghornLeghorn · 24/04/2007 15:34

Sorry Munz, no can do. It's my one 'bad' meal I allow myself per week as it's straight after my Weight Watcher meeting and I get a whole week to burn the points off

Crusty French bread and salad?
new potatoes and green veg?
Oven roast veg?
Mash and grilled tomatoes and mushrooms?

Personally i think it sounds quite rich so would avoid saute or lots of oil/butter in the potatoes or whatever.

Furball · 24/04/2007 15:36

Mash, broccolli, carrots and peas

oliveoil · 24/04/2007 15:37

steamed potatoes and salad

we do chicken with goats cheese wrapped in parma ham like this

cheese and ham is rich enough without any extras

(what would Pam say )

mamazon · 24/04/2007 15:38

hedgehog spuds and broccolli.

slice thin cuts into the top and bottom on the potatoe and then roast in a small amount of olive oil the grooves go all crispy and lovely.

FoghornLeghorn · 24/04/2007 15:38

No mash, had mash last night and DH loathes it so don't get away with it too often.
Think I agree Blu, the crusty bread sounds lovely but I'd have to have about 4lb of butter on it.
DH doesn't eat veg so it's him causing the problems.

you have veg and leave a big veg shaped gap on his plate

sorted

FoghornLeghorn · 24/04/2007 15:40

Pam would be absolutely disgusted but then she'd probably be thinking that while she was tucking into her Burger King

chips and salad?

FoghornLeghorn · 24/04/2007 15:41

Hedgehog spuds sound good - what sort of potato ?

I serve this as an alternative to roast dinner so we have it with veg and roast pots. Although I've only tried it with cheese once and it didn't work - the cheese all melted away!

FoghornLeghorn · 24/04/2007 15:49

Aha, the trick is to have constant eye on the roaming cheese under the grill. Need to whip it out pretty sharpish.
Off to look for Potatoes

Oh, this totally says asparagus to me.
Lightly cooked with lemony butter.
Would be a nice foil to the rich meat.

Or green beans.

MerryMarigold · 24/04/2007 16:19

something fairly plain.

new pots and green beans sounds nice or mash and beans.

deuxcheekymonkeys · 24/04/2007 16:32

OR....you could make classic Hunters Chicken....split the chicken breast and stuff with cheese, wrap in bacon and cover in BBQ sauce (Paul Newmans is best) cook in over for 40mins and serve on a bed of spring onion mash with side salad or green veg...yum!
