Dalek coloured icing required

DS1 has requested I make him a Dalek cake for his 4th birthday (3 weeks time). Have found a Blue Peter recipe but want to replace the chocolate butter cream icing and jelly tots with something a little more realistic. Thought I'd colour up some sugarpaste however where do I start to get that brass type colour?

Second littlelapin. Paste is the way forward! Much easier to work with. SUGERFLAIR is the company that make most of them and you should be able to pick it up at most cake decorating shops. They are based in Benfleet in Essex if that any help.

And how about Malteesers for the blobs?

Dozeynoo · 24/04/2007 09:08

Thank you. I have used the sugar flair colouring pastes before but not seen the lustre dusts, I think they'll look really good.

I have posted a picture of the finished cake in my profile area. I used 'Autumn Leaf' paste colouring and did a bit of dusting with 'Antique Gold' lustre dust.

Thanks for the help ladies.

is it a normal Dalek, or one of the Cult of Skaros? They have different "livery".

DuchessOfNorksWearsTemperley · 21/05/2007 23:12

That cake is superb. Well done!

Well it's not Dalek Sec because he was black.

DimpledThighs · 21/05/2007 23:15

LordVenger - what are you talking about? A cake made of liver? go on - back to your box set or I will set K9 on you.

LordVenger · 21/05/2007 23:16

I am clearly speaking in a pitch of such high-spoddery that you simply cannot understand me

MaureenMLove · 21/05/2007 23:20

Dozeynoo! That is excellent! Can I steal your idea to put in my portfolio? Need to know how you did it though. (btw, I was Princesscc at the begining of this thread!)

DuchessOfNorksWearsTemperley · 21/05/2007 23:21

Get you with your 'high spoddery'. Am far too high brow to get Big Brother references.

Is Dalek Caan gold coloured or maybe it's Dalek Jast? Hmmm?!

LordVenger · 21/05/2007 23:22

Jon Tickle was the geeky one who now presents "braniac" on sky. He invented the "Slow toaster" amongst other useless, borderline autistic, technological not-breakthroughs.

littlelapinWearsBoden · 21/05/2007 23:22

Don't think I haven't noticed that namechange, lady

DuchessOfNorksWearsTemperley · 21/05/2007 23:30

Thanks for that LordV, I'll file it away in the part of my brain labelled 'put the garbage out'.

Hello lapin, what a fun skirt you're wearing this evening.

DuchessOfNorksWearsTemperley · 21/05/2007 23:32

Nobody is called Jon Tickle. It's too absurd.

DimpledThighs · 21/05/2007 23:44

duchess - you need to get out less
