Pimms and sangria recipes please ....

..... I've finally got round to inviting the neighbours in for a drink/bbq type thingey and I fancy a change from the usual beer/wine drinks.

The Pimms recipe is on the side of the bottle - I think a quarter Pimms to three quarters Lemonade?
Sangria - bottle of red, cartonful of orange juice, half a bottle of lemonade and if you want a "lively" do, a good slug of brandy (this is from memory and there may well be an appalled MNer reading this - sorry!)

For sangria: add cinamon sticks. Would NEVER use orange juice. Just lemonade and plenty of pieces of fresh oranges and some lemon.

Thanks ladies. Is Sangria served chilled or room temp? I'm having a mental block - anyone would think I'd never tried it!!

hmm, I would. Not sure on the "proper" etiquette tho.

sangria is chilled. I have a sangria jug from spain. I usually stick in half a bottle of red wine, couple of cups of lemonade, and some pineapple and orange juice. Then add fresh chopped pineapple, and wedges of lemons and limes, and tons of ice cubes. I give it a good bash with a wooden spoon so that the juice from the lemons and limes comes out a bit, then sit on the patio and get sloshed!

Mmm, sounds lovely. Does anyone else add Brandy, or another spirit. Thought that sounded nice Hassled.

brandy is quite common, but only a little. Fruti flavoured brandy is good, or rum. I don't like it, which is why I don't add it. I have a cocktail book though that says add brandy.

fresh Mint and cucumber in pimms, served mixed with lemonade on ice. Delish.

Best Sangria I ever add had Brandy in it.
