pasta dishes with fresh veg

stir fries

risotto

chilli

flash-fried fish (salmon, cod, halibut) with veg

there's loads. I use my oven maybe twice a week

buy a slow cooker

I'm like Capuccino, I use my hob all the time and my oven only at weekends

curries
stews
pasta and everything!
tortillas and fillings
pancakes

gosh, there's hardly anythign you CAN'T cook on a hob - you can even do joints and so on as pot roasts. Baked potatoes would be tricky I admit, you'd just have to cut them into wedges and shallow fry them or do mash!

munz · 23/04/2007 10:34

stew I do mine on the hob and it's yummy.
curies.

do you have a steamer or anything?

boiled bacon/gammon - yummy with new pots.

ziopin · 23/04/2007 10:36

Brilliant, thanks very much. Yes I do have a steamer, haven't used it in years though. I must dust in down!!!

This is easy and quick. fry onion and 2 cloves of garlic when soft ad 200g[ish] of bacon chopped or pre-bought in cubes. Add 2 tins of tomatoes [chopped} tablespoon of fresh parsley or good shake of dry, pepper, (chilli or paprika if you like it.) Bring to boil and let it bubble for a bit. mix into spaghetti, grate some cheese on top. Plain but tastey.

theslownorris · 23/04/2007 10:57

This one pot lentil chicken is a favourite in the norris house and fairly easy too. Minestrone pasta pot is another .

Springadora · 23/04/2007 23:08

Stir fries, paella or risotto, kedgeree, strips of pork with chillies and cream or chicken with marsala and cream.

smoked haddock.

sweat 2 onions in butter. add pinch saffron and season with pepper and sprinkle with parsley.

Add 1cup milk, reduce half and pop smoked haddock, reduce heat and cover. Cooked in 4 mn!

serve haddock with rice and spoon over onion gravy.
