I don't/can't cook at all, I have cooked two dinners tonight, the first lot went in the bin, and we ended up with oven chips and fishfingers, we can't survive on chips and fishfingers till Thursday, what can I do that is piss easy, doesn't involve an awful lot of prep (or cooking!!) that is reasonably healthy??

To be fair the NJ she might be in the same position as me, I can cook, I can cook some things really well. Unfortunately my kids won't eat the things I can cook and I end up either cooking the same boring things I know they will eat (pasta in brodo or pasta with ragu or pasta with cheese) or having a row about eating. Its soul destroying and I've lost confidence in my ability to cook anything now.

Watercress soup and garlic bread:

buy:

2 onions, 2 packs watercress, 4 big potatoes and some veggie oxo cubes. Also premade pack of french stick garlic bread.

Chop onion, potato and watercress.
Fry onion for a few minutes until a bit floppy.
Chuck in potatoes and watercress and add 2 litres (ish) stock. Simmer.

Put oven on, when warm enough put in garlic bread for amount of time it says on the pack.

Just before garlic bread ready wizz soup so nice and smooth, add a bit of salt if you like and a bit of pepper.

Serve

Healthy food, tast and EASY.

Don't think your situation is that unusual NJ. I do pretty much all the cooking at home and leave my wife ready meals/stuff I've cooked in the freezer for her to warm up when I'm away overnight for work.

It's not that she can't cook, more that she's never really had to because it's something I enjoy doing.

She's much better than me at cakes and bread though. I don't have the baking gene.

Sorry, Tuesday night we got a takeaway and yesterday I did a sort of rice dish where I just cooked the rice as usual, chopped a load veg and chicken up fried it all together and sploshed it all on a plate, it was bloody yummy though

He came home last night, so the oven gloves are firmly back where they belong!!
