Has anyone tried the Sainsbury party platters, particularly the sandwiches? We are having a first birthday party for dd soon and I was thinking of buying some of the sandwich platters rather than making my own fresh on the day.

party platters

There will be other food too and I know that I'm a lazy cow for not wanting to make it all myself .

I do think that those ones are overpriced but it's only really the sandwiches that I think I will go for.

I think it will be about 40 adults, the only children will be babies.

Buy the ingredients and give a trustable teenager a £10 to make them to your spec

my brother bought them for my neices christening and 1st birthday. we thought they were great, good value when you think how much time it takes to make them all. we also had heaps left over, the platters were bigger than we had anticipated. mind you he did go overboard with savouries, dips, sandwiches and dessert ones from memory. i know i used the dips one for a huge stir fry the next evening so nothing went to waste!!

the platters only allow 3 quaters of a sandwich per person too, so you will need more than you think if people are going to be hungry

flippin 'eck, i'll do it for you and i bet i'll be cheaper than sainsburys. where do you live?

I will try a local caterer, there are several sandwiches shops nearby that might do outside catering but it will be over the May Bank Hoilday weekend and I'm not sure if they would want to do it then.

Sainsbury is just at the end of my street so delivery is not an issue really.

Thanks sibble.

I was just going to go for sandwiches and get some pies, quiches, cheese, meats and olives etc from the deli.
