Durdle · 10/04/2007 13:06

My sis and I both have 4yr old girls due to start full time school next week and after we sampled one of the school dinners have decided to send them with delicious home made nutritional packed lunches instead!

We need helpful suggestions, recipes, meal planners, good ideas, etc to help us along.....

We are both willing to bake, roast, stew, boil, anything!

I really like the idea of smoothies but when I've tried to keep one for longer than an hour it separates and looks gross- how do you make them last?

I tend to do a blended fruit juice rather than a smoothie with milk or youghurt. Try mango, strawberry, banana, orange and passion fruit.

Sounds good thanks for your suggestions!

As well as everythig already suggested, I also give my DD cold chicken nuggets that I make myslef and freeze (make them with chicken breasts minced in food processor and add cgrated cheddar and maybe a bit of crushed garlic and a bit of softened onion?). Dip in flour, then egg then wholemeal breadcrumbs.

I also always cut DD sandwiches into shapes. Grated carrot and cream cheese is a good filling.

I buy these little dried apricots dipped in youhurt from health food shop.

Dried fruit.

home made carrot cake, banana loaf or fruit loaf.
