imo no as a minor part of the diet

though it can be indigestible and high in hard fats

if not organic then lamb and beef are reared in a non intensive way so better than pork imo

ok cos i was thinking about cutting right down in mine and ds's diets and just wondered what is best to cut out and what is important that you have some included in your diet

won't do any harm at all to have little or no red meat if you have protein and iron sources elsewhere

juicychops · 04/04/2007 16:30

i take multivitamins and iron tablets, but ds's vitamins dont have iron in them. What else has iron in it that isn't red meat?

Spinach has a lot of iron and its lovely in salads and stirfries.

There is research published today that even a fairly modest amount of red meat raises the risk of breast cancer considerably.

I'm not sure if someone has already started a thread on it or not.

here is something on iron sources so although red meat is a very good source it is not by any means the only one

here

soapbox, thats what has made me think about it as my mum mentioned that research

Think im going to make this a new lifestyle change. Il still eat a little every now and then but il try and cut the majority or red meat out now i think
