Dairy and egg free birthday cake?

Anyone got a recipe? I've looked but most vegan recipes seem to be for chocolate cakes, I'm looking for a sponge cake that can be iced for a birthday cake.

Ah well dairy free is easy, dairy free marg in Sainsbo's or anywhere I guess.

Egg free is harder, a pal of mine had an egg and dairy-allergic DD and she had a recipe where oil was used to magically make cakes rise. I never had occasion to make it (she has grown out of allergy) but will ask her.

thanks, yes the dairy free marg we have - it's the egg bit as you say. Have made cakes with vinegar and baking soda and other sorts of oddities to sub the egg. would be pleased to hear your friends recipe if you get a chance, thanks
