I'm defrosting some, I'm sure it was ok when I put it in the freezer but I'm not so sure now...

really, really bad. and when you start cooking it thinking: maybe it is ok, your whole house starts to STINK. if it doesn't smell like it usually does, then it is probably OFF.

Rinse it under a cold tap and if it still smells iffy - chuck it out.

anchovies · 19/03/2007 17:25

Yep when you cook it is is HORRIBLE! AM wretching at the thought! Shouldn't really smell but you'll know when you start cooking it for sure.

If it's off then once it comes properly to room temperature you will know.

I had one the other week which smelled fine when I got it out of the fridge but the time I came back from posting about it on MN it made me heave.

Ok, when I got it out of the microwave it smelt a bit funny but now when you sniff it, it doesn't smell of anything. What do you think?!

I'm going to cut a bit off and cook it and see if it smells!

it sounds fine to me, if it was off you would know about it. Gone off chicken has the most awful rotting smell to it.

danceswithaSPRINGinherstep · 19/03/2007 17:30

It smells fine cooked! I think funny smell was from chopped leeks next to microwave
