Does anybody have a recipe fire engine for a sponge cake. Was going to make it in a loaf tin so that I can turn it into a fire engine for ds birthday cake. Have found lots of sites to show me how to turn it into a fire engine, but no recipes for the actual cake. Someone must have an idea? Please?

I don't know how big your sponge needs to be but general rule is - if it's for 2 x standard 6 inch cake tins ie to make a victoria sandwich cake it's

6oz butter
6oz caster sugar
6oz SR flour
3 eggs
and a drop of vanilla essence

If you want bigger you could go

8oz butter
8oz caster sugar
8oz SR flour
4 eggs
and a drop of vanilla essence

Now to cook they take about 15-20 mins at 180 but if you are doing it in a loaf tin it will probably take longer, so you'll have to nurse them and maybe cover the tin with foil to stop them going to brown on the top????
