The expiry date means they should be ok, but if they smell then they're definitely not! Can you be bothered taking them back to the shop, cos they shouldn't smell if they're still in date?

I took a fish dish back to M&S once, and the bl**dy woman had the cheek to suggest that domestic refrigerators were not as powerful as the ones in the shop. I think my explaining that in that case the sell by date should reflect this went totally over her head!

Take them back and say in your sweetest, most innocent voice, 'Oooh. I wonder if I ought to let Environmental Health know - I'd hate to think of people becoming ill'

Goold luck

I took some fish back to M&S which was "Off" within dates. I made it known how let down i was as i could always trust M&S food etc etc anyway she changed it for me and told me to choose a bottle of wine!!!!! (So it is always worth the complaint!)
