I have just had my veg box delivered:
potatoes
onions
carrots
sweet mama squash
swiss chard
cauliflower
leeks
mushrooms
curly kale
white cabbage
cherry tomatoes
fennel

Also have well stocked cupboards, a bit of double cream, pork and leek sausages and lamb burgers.

Any ideas?

Thanks for replying. I just thought it might be nice to go with some suggestions, rather than pouring over my recipe books. Never mind

TrinityRhino · 13/03/2007 17:34

make a sliced potato bake with the cream and cheese and then slice up the sausages and fry with lots of different vcooked veg and then serve with more veg

ir just ignore my starving ramblings

I'm absolutely starving and dh might be coming in at 6 with chinese or he may not!!
great organisation I hear you say, well we want cinese but don't know if it's open, no idea what I'm going to throw together if he comes home with none

fleacircus · 13/03/2007 17:38

Now, forgive me for being a traditionalists, but I would have sausages and mash. Make the mash a mixture of squash and potatoes, put loads of butter and the cream in as well, and a bit of grated nutmeg if you have it. Either onion gravy, mushroom sauce, or leeks in cheese sauce, and the kale to go with.

Pudding - is it too late to pick up some Gu? If so do you have bread, butter, milk, sugar and sultanas in your well-stocked cupboards? In which case make bread and butter pudding and save some of the cream to go in it. Wine?

And good luck tomorrow.

fleacircus · 13/03/2007 17:39

And excuse my arbitrary plurals...

Overrun · 13/03/2007 17:40

Thanks trinity, and Nicky, Nicky maybe you are right, perhaps I will get a take away. I must admit I feel like taking it easy tonight. I would have cancelled the box, but wasn't sure if it was going to go ahead or not.
Um, do you think it matters if I have a couple of glasses of wine or not?
Btw, if I still have your attention, I am suprised that I have been told nil by mouth completely from midnight as for other operations I was told no solids or milk from midnight, but water till 6 am.
Does any one know anything about this?

Since you ask I am having some valves tied to make my varicose veins less painful

Def take out Overrun and a couple of glasses of nice wine!! The veg box can wait (although Fleacircus and Trinity's ideas sound lovely!)

Good luck for tomorrow. I had my spider veins injected about 6 months ago and there is a def improvement

robbosmum · 13/03/2007 17:52

How about toad in the hole with onion gravy and veg? #re:nbm, you will be fine from midnight, new research an all. It also deeonds on the time you go into theatre

lurkylou · 13/03/2007 17:53

Eat something very light to avoid feeling ill from the anaesthetic!!!!!!!

Overrun · 13/03/2007 18:15

yeah, I was wondering about that lurkylou. Presumably it shouldn't matter too much as my stomach should be empty by the time they operate
