Hot Cross Bun Recipe, Please!

Does anybody have a good reliable hot cross bun recipe for me? I want to make some for my family when we are in Germany for Easter (I have very successfully introduced mince pies there) but every recipe I have tried doesn't work out well.
It would be great if someone could share a foolproof recipe with me.

Thanks.

Foolproof reciepe?

......

go to Sainsbury's!

runs away

Or you can try these two

Hot cross buns

Delia

(can't go wrong with a bit of Delia)

Hm, I doubt Sainsbury has made it to Germany yet, it hasn't even made it North of Glasgow on the Scottish West coast so far (I miss Sainsbury).

Thanks, Stigaloid, I'll try out both recipes. I still have a few weeks to work on my HCB making skills.

Can you not pack a 6 pack of hot cross buns with you when you travel?

Gracelo · 15/03/2007 16:10

Stigaloid, I could I suppose, but I would really love to learn how to make them myself. I'm actually quite a good baker (if you ever need a recipe for a proper apple strudel, I would be the one to ask) and it bugs me that I fail miserably with HCB.

I can also picture the expression in the face of my smug I-would-never-feed-my-kids-anything-not-homemade sil when I unpack something bought from a shop. She can do disgust better than anyone else I know.

I'll try Delia's recipe this weekend.
